Cleansing Our Emotions

Releases Spirit's Radiance - When working towards unveiling the magnificent presence of spirit In our lives, many of us encounter emotional blocks that are as powerful and as rooted as brick walls. Much as we try to move beyond these powerful illusionary structures, we often times become frustrated and immediately develop a sense of unworthiness in our goals to develop a deeper spiritual awareness. What is necessary in order to remove our spiritual blocks is acomplete cleansing of our emotions. Yet, conducting spiritual cleansing requires a deep sense of commitment, an open and forgiving heart and a desire to practice lovingly detachment in ourrelationships.

Our commitment to begin releasing emotional blocks begins with a humble recognition that every circumstance that presents itself in our lives offers us the opportunity to remember our divine identity—a divine entity that recognizes that we are all inter-connected— we are all smaller parts of the greater source. Bringing this truth into our consciousness allows us to:· Recognize the gifts in our life's experiences· Display a forgiving heart to all those that touch our lives. Once we have aligned ourselves with our divine truth, we can begin to compassionately go within and release the emotional blocks that have kept us from experiencing spiritual bliss. Spiritual blocks maybe constructed to disguise:

Resentment, anger and feelings of betrayal, Insecurities, feelings of unworthiness and rejection, Fears, Guilt

Unexpressed emotions; lack of honesty, manipulation

Spiritual cleansing requires for us to go deeply within and release any negative emotions we are harboring for others or ourselves. A simple yet powerful exercise that can greatly facilitate this process is that of writing letters. In releasing our hidden emotions by exercising the art of writing, we enforce the creative action of expression. It is not necessary to give your letters to the individuals who have induced negativity in your life in order to savor the glorious power of release working in your life. The simple act of writing, along with your commitment to develop a deeper spiritual awareness is all that necessary!

Along with a continual spiritual commitment and an open heart that is willing to forgive, we must also learn how to practice lovingly detachment. Lovingly detachment does not imply that we should not care for others or offer them a comforting shoulder. Lovingly detachments requires of us to honor the growing process of humanity—recognizing that all circumstances in life offer us the opportunityfor spiritual growth. Lovingly detachment teaches us that we can care and offer comfort without becoming emotionally attached to the natural growth process of life. We offer our unconditional love and support but we do not allow the emotional negativity of others to weigh us down. We recognize with humbleness that in order for us to experience the full spectrum of our divinity, we must stay focused on experiencing life from a positive perspective; unraveling the gifts in our life'scircumstances, no matter what the appearances.

When we learn to live with lovingly detachment, when we learnhow to display an open and forgiving heart and practice an unconditional commit to reveal spirit, our lives are richly transformed to manifest the radiance of all the things we desire.

With love and lights,

free yourself ...free your own blockage...

Survive a Negative Energy Dump

Energy dumping happens all the time, and it can be very draining. Basically, it occurs through a transferal of negative energy from one person to another. For example, a friend calls you and spendsthe next half hour telling you all about their problems and anxieties. You listen patiently, and like a true and loyal friend, you offer advice and give them a sympathetic ear. Once the conversation is over, your friend feels so much better, but you suddenly discover over the next half an hour or so that you feels lightly nauseous in the tummy, your head has a dull ache across theforehead and you generally feel tired and weary. Bingo, you've just been dumped on!

Now I'm not saying that your friend did this on purpose, I'm simply pointing out why you suddenly feel so drained. You are carrying the load of your friend's negative energy, which has been successfully transferred from their shoulders to yours. But don't despair, you are a very good friend indeed for being so empathic and sharing your friend's load, and there is an easy way toget rid of this accumulation of negative energy from your own body. You either do a sweeping of energy from head to toe and or you need to literally jump up and down, stamp your feet and shake your entire body. Then you need to get in the shower and thoroughly wash your hair and cleanse your body with a decent body scrub. Simple, isn't it! So, the next time your friend, or your ex or a co-worker in a bad mood dumps their negative energy all over you, just start shaking and stamping the negative energy away.

This technique is also great for tantrum-prone children. Often a key problem is simply the fact that they are highly sensitive to the energies around them and they have absorbed too much negative energy. It will leave them feeling irritable and cranky. The best thing you can do, is put on some happy up beat music and encourage them to dance and the blues away.

Om shanti,

Top Six Reasons To Forgive

No one can change the past, but you do have the power to upgrade how you feel about it, and that makes all the difference.

You can take your power back from all those painful memories, and make peace with your past. Forgiveness heals the guilt and the hurt, and does this quietly, privately, and thoroughly. Forgiveness does not mean that you let anyone off the hook, it means that your present happiness is more important than your past suffering.

Forgiveness does not mean that you condone the hurtful things done to you, it means that you reclaim your right to run your own life.

Right now those hurtful things are running your life, and how is that working for you?

The people who hurt you may have ruined your yesterdays, but only you are in charge of your tomorrows.

And if you feel guilt over people that you have hurt, forgiving yourself will heal you and allow you to move forward with a happier attitude and a healthier body.

So here are the top six reasons to forgive.

1 You will feel better and laugh more.
Resolving all that negative spin from your past allows you to enjoy yourself and have the daily fun you really want.

Your buttons will stop being pushed because they will be gone.

You see, guilt and hatred resolve nothing, they just sustain the negativity that continues to stop you from reaching your personal and professional goals.

Forgiveness, on the other hand, undoes the stickiness that binds you to all those unhappy yesterdays, and this returns your personal energy to your present life, and you get more done.

Forgiveness is excellent for improved prosperity and success in every area of your life.

2 You will be healthier.
Carrying negativity appears to cause many physical ills.

The body and the mind are the same thing.

Just as ice and steam are still basically water, your body and your mind are simply different manifestations of your spirit.

Relieve your mental stress and your body will be happier too.

Nothing relieves mental stress like forgiveness. Forgiveness heals.

3 People will like you better.
You will be a more enjoyable person to be around, and will attract more positive people to your life.

Humans are imperfect, and we all make mistakes.

One trait of positive people is that they take life less personally, and readily forgive mistakes as they happen.

On the other hand, perfectionists are often miserable people, having standards way too high to be reached.

Would you settle for mere excellence?
Then do so, and your relations with others will improve immediately. Happy people are all about smiles.

Sure, there are fights worth fighting, but if you live is one long series of fights with other people, the exhaustion must be terrible for you.

Forgive and life improves. It really is that simple.

4 You will stop the constant suffering.
Forgive others exactly because what happened was not your fault.

Ask yourself:
What was done to me?
How long ago did all that happen?
Are those hurtful people still in my life?
Why should I keep suffering for what someone else did?
Since it was not my fault, why am I still paying for it?

Of course you have suffered way too long and way too much already. And those hurtful people have probably been gone from your life for years. So let the suffering stop right now.

Forgive them.

And it may be that complete, one hundred percent may not be possible for you at first, and that is fine.

Not to worry, because you can start with a small percentage of forgiveness and work up.

How about forgiving them ten percent? Twenty? Eighty?

Even five percent forgiveness is an excellent step in the right direction.
The more you forgive, the better you will feel.

5 You have punished yourself long enough.
Self forgiveness stops the overwhelming feelings of guilt that obstruct your happiness.

Ask yourself: What was my crime?
How long ago did that happen?
Am I still doing stuff like tha t?
If I had been imprisoned for it, would I be out by now?

You have likely already punished yourself way too much, and it is time to grant yourself a full pardon. Forgive does not mean forget, it means accepting responsibility, and moving on with our life in positive ways, having learned your lessons.

You can stop spinning over how you used to be and get on with creating the good life you have always deserved.

So forgive yourself.
Today.
Right now.

Since you cannot undo what you did, you must do the next best thing, and that is to face what happened, and then let the blame go.

6 No one needs to know.

Forgiveness happens privately.
You do not need to call anyone up or write any letters.
Forgiveness is an internal healing, and it is all about you.
Other people will have to forgive themselves for what they did.
Your concern is you.
You evolve all the time anyway, so why not evolve for the better?

And here is how do forgiveness.
As you remember past events and the people involved, feel forgiveness flow from your heart out to them and back to yourself.

Visualize what happened and who was there, forgiving everything and everyone involved.
If you are not particularly visual, that is not a problem at all, since you can just sense and feel what happened, and process from there. Sensing and feeling work just as well as visualizing.

If anger arises when you think of some people, then in the privacy of your own thoughts, confront them.

Tell them how you feel about what happened, and spend all of that anger you feel toward
them.

Tell them all the things you would never say to their face, but need to express. And then forgive them.

You may need to feel forgiven by your higher power.

Please know that God/dess forgives you the first time you ask, so only ask once.

If you have to ask twice, then it is you who is not forgiving you.

Forgive yourself fully knowing that God/dess never needs to be asked twice.

"Do not ask Goddess to guide your footsteps if you are not willing to move your feet!"

With Love and Ligths,
To forgive is divine ......

Ginger and barley specifically for cancer and diabetic people

ACancer Killer in the Kitchen - Ginger
The powerful healing effects of ginger have been well documented. It's a proven remedy for upset stomach. Reams of studies show that it inhibits inflammation. And there is substantial evidence that it fights cancer too.

For instance, a recent University of Michigan study showed that when ginger was added to ovarian cancer cells in the laboratory, it caused the cancer cells to self-destruct (a process known as "apoptosis") . In a separate study at the University of Minnesota , researchers injected colon cancer cells into mice that were bred to have no immune system.

Half of these mice were routinely fed gingerol, the main active
component in ginger. The researchers found that the mice that were fed gingerol lived longer, their tumors were smaller, and the cancer did not spread as widely as in the control group.

With all these health benefits, you should be using ginger as often as you can. The best way I've found to get a healthy serving of ginger is to juice it. (The brand of juicer I use is an Omega.) Two or three days a week, I juice an apple or two, some carrots, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, and a big piece of ginger root.

The ginger gives the drink a great flavor and a powerful anti-cancer kick.
I highly recommend that you try it.

Healing and cleansing with barley

High in fibre, barley is also a kidney cleanser. Better yet, regular intake of it helps  prevent heart disease. BARLEY water was always a regular drink  when we were still living at home. Whenever we had to go for a medical exam that included a urine test, my mum would make us drink barley water a day before it to make sure we got a positive result!

My mother was a wise woman. I later found out from an Australian naturopath that barley is known to be a kidney cleanser, and she happily downed glasses of it at a meal we had in a coffee-shop here.

Barley is good for your intestinal health too. Try to eat the barley grains you find in your drink or sweet broth with fu chook (beancurd skin) and ginkgo nuts.

It's high in fibre which feeds the friendly bacteria in the colon and helps speed up the transit of fecal matter in it. In this way it helps prevent haemorrhoids and colon cancer.

The propionic acid and beta glucan from barley's insoluble fibre also help lower cholesterol and prevent the formation of gallstones.

Eating barley regularly is a preventive step against heart disease as, besides the fibre content, it is also high in niacin, a B vitamin good for lowering cholesterol.

Diabetics should eat more barley as the fibre will prevent blood sugar levels from rising too high. It also provides relief from constipation or diarrhoea for those suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Barley is rich in selenium which prevents cancer and relieves symptoms of asthma and arthritis. It is a good source of manganese, copper and phosphorous.

Malt sugar comes from sprouted barley which, when fermented, is an ingredient in beer and other alcoholic beverages.

Barley, whose Latin name is " hordeum vulgare" , has been cultivated for more than 10,000 years.
Since ancient times, barley has been used for healing purposes and has been known to the Chinese, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. Athletes in Greece and Rome in those days were known to eat barley bread to give them strength.

Besides the usual things we do with barley, I enjoy having it in a western soup. The larger pearl barley is used and I love the sticky bite of it

Cancer prevention

Here's some very useful and important information about cancer prevention:

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not
show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billions. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be
destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumours.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental,
food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often  reduce tumour size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumour destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

a.
Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cut off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like  NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or
molasses but only in very small amounts.

b.
Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soya milk cancer cells are being  starved. Milo, Ovaltine, Horlicks are made with milk and best avoided.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones, parasites, etc which are all harmful to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits helps put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and
reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells.

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrefied and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements  (Maitake eg) are known to cause cancer cells opoptosis, that is, induce cancer cells to commit.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, un-forgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax, enjoy and trust God for healing.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment.
Exercising daily and deep breathing helps to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

17. Cancer can be reversed with nutrition, supplements and clinically proven complementary and alternative therapies.

18. Cancer can be healed by divine intervention of God the Healer.....

SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT INFO:

1. Sugar is a cancer feeder. Avoid sugar. Sugar substitutes like Equal, Spoonful, NutraSweet are made with Aspartame, a chemical that is harmful to the body. A better natural alternative is Manuka honey in small amounts.

2. Milk causes the body to produce mucus. Cancer thrives on mucus. A better calcium alternative is unsweetened soya milk.

3. Green tea has anti-cancer properties. It is a better substitute for coffee and tea, which have caffeine, bad for people with cancer.

4. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

5. Meat like pork, beef, chicken contain livestock antibiotics, growth hormones, parasites, etc which are all harmful for people with cancer. It is better to eat fish, or eat a little free-range chicken. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrefied and leads to more toxic build up.

6. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

7. Water - best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water.  Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

8. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at  temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).
A little effort at our part will yield great return in the long run... keep up the discipline and enjoy every single movement in life.

With love and lights,

White Sun

White Sun
White Sun is a sign from Heaven, signifying the beginning of the End of the Age. One cycle of Heaven and Earth is 129,600 years and it is the coming of the Final Catastrophe.

Goddess of Mercy said,

“Oh! Oh! What a great catastrophe!
The pain inflicted causes wails and moans;
Great floods burst, and the world becomes submerged;
Great fire spread, and the men and women are charred to ashes;
Killer Wind (Gang-feng) descends, and even ghosts and deities wail.”

Taoist Cosmology

Also known as, "Who Made Who," this question is often put in the form of "who created me?" or "why am I alive?" or "what is my purpose for living?" All of these questions are related to the overall question of cosmology.

Tao cannot be described. A picture tells a thousand words. Likewise God, the creation, life, sufferings as a result of the creation....why, why, why? Only a true and sincere seeker of the Truth will have real wisdom to see the picture. But everyone claims to be able to know and have found the Truth. Only God knows..............

You may notice one common theme underlying all of these questions: there's always some reference to "me." Is this not a bit biased? For Taoism, the first question would be: who is this "me" person anyway? How many times in a single day do people use the word, "me"? Yet this concept that people seem so familiar with using, they are very unfamiliar with the implications.
First of all, the seed for your growth was given by your parents, but the seed alone is not sufficient. This seed needs a vast amount of nutrients, which, when recognized by the DNA patterns in the seed, are put together in rather amazingly complex patterns to start building an embreyo. All of these nutrients are provided by the mother, which is in turn provided by the world in which she lives.

Right from the beginning, there is no you. The seed is not you; it was produced by your parents. The nutrients and the biological structures produced from them are not you either; they were provided by the world around you.

Then comes the profoundly complex structure known as the brain. This is nature's masterpiece. As various species evolved over time, nature continously selected only those beings which were more conscious. The conscious is the awareness of life, and everything else the brain learns to divide. Part of this awareness, however, is the awareness of self, referred to in psychology, and of course by Taoists, as the Ego.

Ego and Self, however, are two of the great misunderstandings in psychology and philosophy, even in Taoist philosophy. Ego is not some "thing" that sits in the brain. Ego is nothing more than a concept, that of self-awareness. It's silly to talk about "The Ego," as if it's some person inside your brain. If nothing else, "The Ego" is the thing thinking about "The Ego." The Ego is nothing more than "you" as a separate being, seeing yourself in relation to that which is "not you." It is self-awareness, nothing else.

Nevertheless, this concept is nothing more than a concept. There is nothing in reality like it other than that big lump of flesh we call our conscious brain. Of course, fiction serves its own purposes in other contexts, but fiction is not what I'm exploring in this essay.

Now that we've hit that dead end, it's time to try a different path. Let's start back at the question of "who made who," you know, the one that's usually phrased as, "who created you?" As I pointed out already, the "you" that is thought of here is nothing more than various nutrients pieced together by the instructions encoded biologically in your DNA. So if there's anything that anyone can point to as "you," the closest they could come is that initial seed provided by your parents.

The safest answer to the question, "who created me" is "there is no me to have been created," so the next safest answer would be "my parents." However, we could apply the same argument to them as that given above, and see that they, as seperate entities, don't really exist either, but we already saw where that got us, so let's keep going and say that their parents made them, and their parents made them, etc.

Looks like we've got ourselves trapped in circular logic again! I guess that's why the next safest answer would have to be, "God created us all!" Whew! Off the hook with that one! But no such luck, because the next inevitable question would be, "who created God?" I guess you have to end somewhere. The curiosity as to what spawned the Absolute Starting Point will spoil any answer to the Great Cosmological Question. If you must have an answer, then the starting point is arbitrary.

You'll pull back and back, starting with your biased concept of "self," then looking to your parents, then to their parents, and finally to the universe itself, then to God. You could pull back even further if you're creative enough with your theology. It really doesn't matter where you place the starting point, because you will always wonder what happened Before The Beginning. What came first? The chicken or the egg?

This is a common problem found in logic known as a paradox, or circular logic. You will always find yourself asking your original question. In fact, this is an excellent sign of your logic failing you. However, most people don't ask deep enough questions to get into too hot of water. They're usually satified with the usual overly-processed Answer, and they go on with their lives. In fact, this is what we have to do with everything, because logic, by nature, is finite, and that which logic tries to comprehend is infinite. It is inevitable that your logic will break down, and in fact it always happens in the form of a paradox.

Taoism teaches that nature itself is cyclical: there is no starting point, and no ending point. It's just like a circle. This is what creates the paradox in logic: you can answer question after question until you find yourself back to your original question. That's because you've gone around the circle and found yourself back to the beginning.

But logic thrives on linearality. Everything must have a starting point and a distinct ending point. There must be a this, and there must be a distinct that. Since nature is circular instead of linear, there is the illusion that you're going in a strait line with your logic because on an infinitesimal level (which is our relative size to the universe we're conceptualizing), a circle looks like a strait line. But then we find ourselves where we started and we say, "that doesn't make sense!"

This inevitable conclusion to every logical question is what Taoist writing thrives on. If you read the Tao Te Ching or Chuang Tzu for the first time, I'm sure you'll exclaim, "that doesn't make any sense!" But that is their whole point of writing it! How else can a Taoist describe the universe? We already know that it's futile. We'll just find ourselves back where we started. So instead of going in a strait line, we go in circles.

Of course it won't make sense to the conscious brain, because the entire reason for Taoist writing is to transcend the conscious brain and go deeper. You see, the conscious brain is only a recent (and in fact relatively unsophisticated) development in evolution. There is a whole other, highly unexplored, part of the biology that developed right from the beginning, just by the very nature of its inseparability from the universe around it. It is by this that beings operated before the development of the conscious brain, and it is this which Taoists are trying to tap into.

The conscious brain is excellent for adapting to environments and surviving in general, but it's awful at understanding things as a totality. By its very nature, its job is to not understand things as a totality, but to divide it up and analyze as separate parts. It's like trying to see a star through a microscope. The microscope is intended to analyze on a very tiny level, whereas the star is very far away and very massive in size. The microscope wasn't designed to observe stars, and it would be silly to use it in this way. That's why we have telescopes. Similarly, the conscious brain wasn't designed to observe the Whole, but there is something else that was.

So what is this "thing" that is used to observe the whole? It would probably seem more like "feeling" than "thinking." Some refer to it as intuition, or more mystically, "the third eye." Psychologists call it the unconscious brain. But it is not something bizarre and supernatural. It is something very natural indeed, and something very old in age, the oldest in fact. It is the very seat of creativity.

Taoists purposely say things that are paradoxical and downright confusing, but it only seems that way when you're analyzing the words with logic. If you understand the words at a deeper level, that of your intuition, or whatever else you might want to call it, it can be very profound. Entire philosophies of life can be derived from just a few single words. But insist on analyzing, and it will seem like nonsense.

When a superior man hears of the Tao, he immediately begins to embody it. When an average man hears of the Tao, he half believes it, half doubts it. When a foolish man hears of the Tao, he laughs out loud. If he didn't laugh, it wouldn't be the Tao. Thus it is said: The path into the light seems dark, the path forward seems to go back, the direct path seems long, true power seems weak, true purity seems tarnished, true steadfastness seems changeable, true clarity seems obscure, the greatest person seems unsophisticated, the greatest love seems indifferent, the greatest wisdom seems childish. The Tao is nowhere to be found. Yet it nourishes and completes all things.
Tao Te Ching - Chapter 41
Now think of this circle which your logic will take you in. You have what you call a starting point for the universe, and you move along the circle until you find the ending point. You begin wondering what happened Before the Beginning and what will happen After the End. Is there just void? That's what the universe is anyway, relative to what we call "matter" which is contained in it. Explore the question long enough, and your logic goes in circles.

Taoism starts with a very basic premise, which I already mentioned: that of cyclical growth. Nothing in the universe goes in a straight line, but in circles. If you nail down a starting point, you have trouble finding the ending point. Likewise, if you nail down an ending point, you have trouble finding the starting point. That is the Way the universe works. So what created the universe? What existed before the universe existed? The only thing that could possibly exist is the Way itself.

Think about it. How do you build a house without knowing the Way to Build a House? You could argue, "but the Way doesn't build the house! The carpenter builds it!" Thus if you were to build a house, you would see it as your creation, just as many see the universe as God's creation. But we've already gone through that argument! There is no you, separate and distinct. You already know the universe created you, and we also know the troubles of seeking who created the universe.

The only possibility for the Ultimate Creator is the only thing that could exist before the Creator, which could spawn the Creation of the Creator. The only thing that exists in and of itself, without reliance on anything else, is the Way itself. In other words, there is no starting point on the circle. The starting point is the entire circle itself. This Way, or Circle, or Creator of the Creator, is given a special name in Taoism: the Tao, which is really nothing more than the Chinese word for "the Way."

There was something formless and perfect before the universe was born. It is serene. Empty. Solitary. Unchanging. Infinite. Eternally present. It is the mother of the universe. For lack of a better name, I call it the Tao. It flows through all things, inside and outside, and returns to the origin of all things. The Tao is great. The universe is great. Earth is great. Man is great. These are the four great powers. Man follows the earth. Earth follows the universe. The universe follows the Tao. The Tao follows only itself.
Tao Te Ching - Chapter 25
To nail down a starting point is to limit yourself. To be finite, something must have a starting point. With no starting point, you have infinity. Since you are nothing more than a piece of the universe, and the universe is nothing more than a piece of the Way, and the Way is infinite, not being a piece of anything, that means that you are intimately connected with something infinite! There is no limit except for that which you impose on yourself by seeing yourself as separate and distinct from the Way, the beautiful, yet deceiving, talent of the conscious brain.

That is the goal of Taoism: to tap into the infinite Way. To do so, you needn't have a teacher, nor read certain books, nor sit in meditation for hours, although these help only if they clarify The Real You: the Way that is infinite. But my point is that you don't need "something else." Everything you need is given to you, you just need to learn how to use it. That is the only purpose that teachers, books, or meditation can serve.

The Master keeps her mind always at one with the Tao; that is what gives her her radiance. The Tao is ungraspable. How can her mind be at one with it? Because she doesn't cling to ideas. The Tao is dark and unfathomable. How can it make her radiant? Because she lets it. Since before time and space were, the Tao is. It is beyond is and is not. How do I know this is true? I look inside myself and see.
Tao Te Ching - Chapter 21
By tapping into this infinite source, you have unlimited power. I don't mean power as in the usual term, that of the ability to control people and situations. Perhaps I mean Power with a capital P: the ability to control everything. Okay, this seems a bit wishy washy, but that is only because you're clinging to ideas, and seeing everything as separate. I did not say you can control each and every single entity which your brain has contrived to separate. I said that you can control everything.

How can this be? Because you are The Way. You are not just that body that nature assembled and gave a brain with which it can divide itself and everything that it is deluded enough to think is separate. This is nothing more than a concept. From the perspective of that concept, that body is indeed limited in its power, simply because to see itself as separate it requires limitation. Without limitation, there is no separation.

But once you feel yourself one with the Tao: no separate you, no separate Tao, then you will have unlimited power. Of course, you already have unlimited power, you just don't use it because you're too busy concentrating on your limitations. Just because you have a delusion of separateness and limitation doesn't mean you really are separate and limited.

One thing the delusion can do is cause you to behave as if you were. You are the ugly duckling who is only ugly as a duckling. Seeing yourself as a duckling makes you see yourself as ugly. Seeing yourself as the swan that you truly are makes you see yourself as beautiful. Likewise, seeing yourself as separate makes you limited, but seeing yourself as infinite makes you unlimited.

The Tao is infinite, eternal. Why is it eternal? It was never born; thus it can never die. Why is it infinite? It has no desires for itself; thus it is present for all beings. The Master stays behind; that is why she is ahead. She is detached from all things; that is why she is one with them. Because she has let go of herself, she is perfectly fulfilled. GODDESS OF MERCY – (“KUAN YIN” IN CHINESE)

Kuan Yin has three special dates in the Chinese calendar:
19th of the Second Lunar Month
Her Birthday
19th of the Sixth Lunar Month The day she acquired Tao
19th of the Ninth Lunar Month The day she returned to Heaven Attainment of Tao

The goddess, Kuan Yin is claimed as a patron deity by both the Taoists and the Buddhists and her image is to be found in most temples in Asia. She is worshipped by women seeking offspring, seafarers, farmers, travelers and merchants. In fact, the name "Kuan Yin" shows the universality of her influence as it means, "One Who Sees and Hears the Cry from the Human World."

The Chinese legend concerning Kuan Yin tells the story of the king of a small country, located in southwestern China, around 300 B.C., who had three daughters, Kuan Yin being the youngest. As Kuan Yin, whose mortal name was Miau Chan, grew up and showed extraordinary talent in studying the mystery of the universe and exhibited a great compassion for all sentient beings.

Her father planned to marry her off to some distinguished man in the hope of their son becoming the future king. Miau Chan absolutely refused to be married and, at length, received her father's permission to enter the Nunnery of the White Sparrow in Lungshu Hsien.

Although having given his permission, he was none too pleased with the idea of his daughter becoming a nun. Therefore, he commanded that she be given the most difficult and degrading tasks to do. Miau Chan's determination to pursue the religious life, instead of being weakened by these tasks, became even stronger.

In his anger and frustration, ordered that she be executed. When the executioner struck Miau Chan with his sword, the sword broke into a thousand pieces. Seeing this, her father ordered her to be strangled, thus succeeding in her murder. Reaching hell, her soul not only did not suffer the anguish of the netherworld, but rather, because of her goodness, changed hell into paradise.

Yama (the king of hell), not wishing his realm to be destroyed, immediately sent her back to life and had her transported on a lotus flower, to the island of P'ootoo, near Ningpo. Here Miau Chan lived for nine years perfecting her cultivation, healing disease and saving mariners from shipwreck. It was during this time that her father was stricken by a mortal illness which could only be cured by the two hands and eyes of the "Never Angry One."

Miau Chan, on hearing this, allowed her hands to be cut off and her eyes gouged out. Reduced to an ointment, these parts immediately produced a cure. The king, discovering that he owed his life to his daughter, long thought to be dead, left his kingdom to his chief minister and adopted Buddhism. Sacrifices to Kuan Yin consist only of fruit and vegetables as it would be blasphemy to offer her meat or wine.

If you are at a temple when she is being worshipped, you will hear her devotees solemnly and lovingly chanting her name, over and over again. She is said to be able to protect people from danger and to grant children to those who pray to her. It is as a patron of love, conception and children that she is most well-known. To see how important these qualities are to the Chinese let us look at the "Sutra on the Great Love of Parents."

At this time the Buddha preached the law as follows: “All ye good men and good women; acknowledge your debt for your father's compassion; acknowledge your debt for your mother's mercy. For the life of a human being in this world, has karma as its basic cause, but parents as its immediate means of origin.

Without a father, the child is not born. Without a mother, the child is not nourished. The spirit comes from the father's seed; the body grows within the mother's womb. Because of these relationships, the concern of a mother for her child is without comparison in this world.

From the time when she receives the child in her womb, during the passage of nine months, going, coming, sitting, sleeping, she is visited by suffering. She ceases to have her customary love for food or drink or clothing and worries solely about a safe delivery. The months are full, and the days sufficient. At the time of birth, the winds of karma hasten it on, her bones are racked with pain. When the child is born and dropped upon the grass, the boundless joy of the father and mother match that of a woman who has found the omnipotent magic jewel. When the child utters its first sounds, the mother feels that she herself is born anew. Her chest becomes the child's place of rest; her knees, its playground, her breasts, its source of food; her love his very life. Without his mother, the child cannot dress or undress. Though the mother hungers, she takes the food from her own mouth and gives it to her child. Without the mother, the child cannot be nourished ...."

Images usually portray Kuan Yin seated on a lotus, holding a vase. The vase symbolizes harmony and Kuan Yin's hands are said to contain the Dew of Compassion. Stories tell of her appearing at the bedside of the seriously ill and sprinkling a few drops of this nectar on their heads. This has always resulted in a miraculous cure.

The lotus has been used by the Chinese as an emblem of summer and fruitfulness for centuries. With the advent of Buddhism, it took on the additional symbolism of purity because it grows out of the mud but is not soiled by it. The petals of the flower are seen as the spokes of the wheel of continued existence to which all unenlightened beings are bound until they reach the stage of awakening and pass into Nirvana.

Kuan Yin's birthday is celebrated without the continual explosions of firecrackers that accompany the birthdays of the other gods. This is due to the fact that Kuan Yin is so pure that it is unnecessary to ward off evil spirits, as none would dare to approach her

THE GREAT TAO

Tao exists before Heaven and Earth. It will still exist after the destruction of everything. It is everlasting. Tao is the origin of Heaven, Earth, mankind, substances and matters.

Tao being the essence, is the core of all virtues. God is the spiritual energy of Tao. In terms of the lord of all phenomena in the cosmos, the essence is called God. The Truth is the manifestation of Tao and conscience is the manifestation of the True Self.

Originally Tao is nameless. Since it is a void, it is everywhere and it is nowhere. The cosmos is like a giant wheel, days follow months, winter follows summer, birth is followed by growth, old age and death. Human cannot live without Tao. Tao is the True Self of a human. Once the True self is covered by emotions and desires, one becomes lost and is attracted by illusory images, hence forever trapped in the cycle of birth, death and rebirth.

Nowadays, science and technology dominate the society. Mankind becomes corrupted and morality has deteriorated. Catastrophes strike everywhere. The ultimate goal of Tien-Tao is turned the world into a Pure Land. ‘Tien Tao’ means Tao of Heaven.

1) What is the true meaning of Tao?
In the beginning, the cosmos was a void without any form or substance. However in this state, there existed an indescribable energy. Without beginning or end, it is ever changing and continuously self-rejuvenating. This energy created billions of galaxies, stars and solar systems.

It also created billions of life forms on Earth, including humans, animals and plants. Observable forms and substance make up the material world; others that cannot be observed make up the spiritual world. This mystical energy that exists in all shapes and forms fill the universe with vibrant vitality. Hence it is the origin of all lives and the Lord of all beings. We call this energy, TAO.

Tao endows Heaven and Earth, the Truth and Order. Tao not only manifests the state of life, it also unveils the principle, order and characteristic of life. Tao is the centre of all thoughts, feeling and emotion and controls all bodily existence. Everyone has Tao within oneself, yet does not know its existence. Tao is the origin of mankind. One who searches and discovers Tao becomes a Saint. One who does not know Tao becomes lost and risks the annihilation of his soul. Thus, one who acts benevolently based on faith will perfect benevolence in his conscience; one who makes judgement based on faith will perfect his wisdom.

Lao-Tze defined Tao as follows :-
"Great Tao has no form nor substance, yet it creates and cultivates Heaven and Earth, Great Tao has no favours, thus it governs the law and order of the cosmos. Great Tao has no name, but it gives life to and nourishes all beings. Because it is so mystical and powerful, there really is no proper word to represent it."

Tao - The Great Mother

In religious Taoism the interior of the body is inhabited by the same gods as those of the macrocosm. An adept often searches for his divine teacher in all the holy mountains of China until he finally discovers him in one of the “palaces” inside his head... The affinities of Taoism with other Asian religions are numerous. If one distinguishes between universal religions of salvation, such as Buddhism and Islam, and the older, more culture-bound, such as Japanese Shinto and Hinduism, Taoism undoubtedly belongs to the second category." Encyclopaedia BritannicaTao Te Ching

Tao Te Ching (the Classic of the Way and its Power), according to tradition written by Lao-Tzu. Key concepts: the Tao, introduced in the Tao Te Ching is as follows:

"The Tao that can be expressed is not the eternal Tao;
the name that can be defined is not the unchanging name...

There is a thing inherent and natural, which existed before heaven and earth. Motionless and fathomless, it stands alone and never changes; it pervades everywhere and never becomes exhausted; it may be regarded as the Mother of the Universe. I do not know its name. If I am forced to give it a name, I call it Tao, and I name it supreme... Man follows the laws of earth; earth follows the laws of heaven; heaven follows the laws of the Tao; and Tao follows the laws of its intrinsic nature.

"What is this Tao?
The concept transcends the powers of reason and must be grasped intuitively, it is beyond words, beyond all differences and distinction, it is the unchanging, permanent reality of constant change, it is the ground of being and nonbeing, it is akin to the Hindu concept of the Brahman.

Tao: The Great Mother.
The Tao literally means a Path. It has been severally translated as the Way, the Absolute, the Law, Nature, Supreme Reason, the Mode. These renderings are not incorrect, for the use of the term by the Taoists differs according to the subject-matter of the inquiry. Laotse himself spoke of it thus: "There is a thing which is all- containing, which was born before the existence of Heaven and Earth. How silent! How solitary! It stands alone and changes not. It revolves without danger to itself and is the mother of the universe. I do not know its name and so call it the Path. With reluctance I call it the Infinite. Infinity is the Fleeting, the Fleeting is the Vanishing, the Vanishing is the Reverting." The Tao is in the Passage rather than the Path. It is the spirit of Cosmic Change, – the eternal growth which returns upon itself to produce new forms. It recoils upon itself like the dragon, the beloved symbol of the Taoists. It folds and unfolds as do the clouds. The Tao might be spoken of as the Great Transition. Subjectively it is the Mood of the Universe. Its Absolute is the Relative. (Taoism and Zennism)

The Tao doesn't take sides; it gives birth to both good and evil. The Master doesn't take sides; she welcomes both saints and sinners. The Tao is like a bellows: it is empty yet infinitely capable. The more you use it, the more it produces; the more you talk of it, the less you understand. Hold on to the center.

Tao Teh Ching 5
The Tao is called the Great Mother:
empty yet inexhaustible,
it gives birth to infinite worlds.
It is always present within you.
You can use it any way you want.

Tao Teh Ching 6
The Tao is infinite, eternal.
Why is it eternal?
It was never born;
thus it can never die.
Why is it infinite?
It has no desires for itself;
thus it is present for all beings.
The Master stays behind;
that is why she is ahead.
She is detached from all things;
that is why she is one with them.
Because she has let go of herself,
she is perfectly fulfilled.

Tao Teh Ching 7

Stop thinking, and end your problems.
What difference between yes and no?
What difference between success and failure?
Must you value what others value, avoid what others avoid?
How ridiculous!
Other people are excited as though they were at a parade.
I alone don't care,
I alone am expressionless,
like an infant before it can smile.
Other people have what they need;
I alone possess nothing.
I alone drift about,
like someone without a home.
I am like an idiot,
my mind is so empty.

Other people are bright;
I alone am dark.

Other people are sharper;
I alone am dull.

Other people have a purpose;
'I alone don't know.
I drift like a wave on the ocean,
I blow as aimless as the wind.

I am different from ordinary people.
I drink from the Great Mother's breasts.

Tao Teh Ching 20
The Master keeps her mind always at one with the Tao;
that is what gives her her radiance.

Tao Teh Ching 21
There was something formless and perfect before the universe was born.
It is serene.
Empty.
Solitary.
Unchanging. Infinite.
Eternally present.
It is the Mother of the universe.
For lack of a better name, I call it the Tao.

It flows through all things, inside and outside, and returns to the origin of all things.
The Tao is great.
The universe is great.
Earth is great.
Man is great.
These are the four great powers.
Man follows the earth.
Earth follows the universe.
The universe follows the Tao.
The Tao follows only itself.

Tao Teh Ching 25
The heavy is the root of the light.
The unmoved is the source of all movement.
Thus the Master travels all day without leaving home.
However splendid the views, she stays serenely in herself.
Why should the lord of the country flit about like a fool?
If you let yourself be blown to and fro, you lose touch with your root.
If you let restlessness move you, you lose touch with who you are.

Tao Teh Ching 26
Every being in the universe is an expression of the Tao.
It springs into existence,
unconscious, perfect, free, takes on a physical body,
lets circumstances complete it.
That is why every being spontaneously honors the Tao.
The Tao gives birth to all beings,
nourishes them,
maintains them,
cares for them,
comforts them,
protects them,
takes them back to itself,
creating without possessing,
acting without expecting,
guiding without interfering.
That is why love of the Taois in the very nature of things.

Tao Teh Ching 51
In the beginning was the Tao.
All things issue from it; all things return to it.
To find the origin, trace back the manifestations.
When you recognize the children and find the mother,
you will be free of sorrow.
If you close your mind in judgements and traffic with desires,
your heart will be troubled.
If you keep your mind from judging and aren't led by the senses,
your heart will find peace.
Seeing into darkness is clarity.
Knowing how to yield is strength.
Use your own light and return to the source of light.
This is called practicing eternity.

Tao Teh Ching 52
Whoever is planted in the Tao will not be rooted up.
Whoever embraces the Tao will not slip away.
Her name will be held in honor from generation to generation.
Let the Tao be present in your life and you will become genuine.
Let it be present in your family and your family will flourish.
Let it be present in your country and your country will be an example to all countries in the world.
Let it be present in the universe and the universe will sing.
How do I know this is true?
By looking inside myself.

Essential Ideas Of Taoism
"The two essential ideals of the Taoist religion are individual longevity or immortality, and social harmony and peace..." -- Liu Xiaogan, Taoist belief draws from indigenous Chinese religion and incorporates that thought into its schema. Visiting scholar Liu Xiaogan of Princeton University writes concerning the Taoist system."In its popular forms it is represented by a pantheon of gods, spirits, and ghosts, and it has absorbed almost every ancient practice known to the Chinese people, such as offering sacrifices to ancestors, praying for favorable weather, and dispelling evil spirits.". This foundation explains the popularity, on an individual level, of the religion. To understand Taoism is to appreciate the alternative world view it offered to Confucianism. Confucianism--classical, socially oriented, geared to public functions of Chinese families and the state, accepting of social duty and responsibility with an influx of rules, laws, ceremonies and traditions--soon became a system of social and psychological pressure.

A diversion was needed. With romantic simplicity, openness and artistic wisdom.Taoism offered a departure. Withdraw from the endless struggle and conflict...prize the individual life. Seek unity with nature. Obtain inner space and peace, freed from the excesses of confining Confucian practicality. Major ThemesTao, as the "path" or "way," emphasizes major themes. a. Transcendence Taoism seeks to surpass the limits of the ordinary. It seeks an ultimate reality which is behind all, a mystical insight which is beyond the scope of words."As a thing the way is Shadowy, indistinct. Indistinct and shadowy, Yet within it is an image; Shadowy and indistinct, Yet within it is a substance." -- Tao Te Ching, XXI:49

Way of the Universe. Taoist thought identifies the way of the universe, the pattern, rhythm, driving power, the ordering principle behind all life. In this sense, Tao (and the Taoist religion), becomes the integrating principle behind all of life."In his every moment a [person] of great virtue Follows the way and the way only." Tao Te Ching, XXI:48, XI:27

Way of LifeTao means the way of human life, that is, the way life should be. Tao is the natural guiding force which enables all things to realize their full potential...to be fulfilled. Long Life Quest for long life became a Taoist goal. Stemming from the focus on nature, with its rhythm of constant renewal, and trying to emulate that rhythm, Taoism focused on techniques to prolong life. In the Classic of Great Peace, an expression of the common values of the Chinese people, long life became a most important goal between heaven and earth. Taoist thought sought to conserve life in many ways. In keeping harmony within the spirit and material forces within the body, a life inducing heart, mind and will ensued. Meditation Focusing one's spirit and so avoiding dissipation--became a valued technique. Consolidation of vital powers so as to resist death became the ideal--not nirvana or release. People die early not because of fate but because their way of living hurts their spirits or bodies.

Moderation in the desires and emotions preserved body and soul. Gods become identified with specific body parts-- heart, liver, spleen--and homage to these gods becomes a focus of devotional exercises." Lao Tze's "Palaces inside the Head", Jesus' "Kingdom of God" and the Adi Shakti's "Sahasrara" are one and the same. According to Encyclopaedia Britannica Taoism believes that “man is a microcosm (small universe) correspondingly rigorously to this macrocosm (large universe); his body reproduces the plan of the universe . . . This originally magical feeling of the integral unity of mankind and the natural order has always characterized the Chinese mentality, and the Taoists especially have elaborated upon it . . .

In religious Taoism the interior of the body is inhabited by the same gods as those of the macrocosm. An adept often searches for his divine teacher in all the holy mountains of China until he finally discovers him in one of the “palaces” inside his head . . . The affinities of Taoism with other Asian religions are numerous. If one distinguishes between universal religions of salvation, such as Buddhism and Islam, and the older, more culture-bound, such as Japanese Shinto and Hinduism, Taoism undoubtedly belongs to the second category.”I deem that Lao-Tze was a great mystic who differed from Confucius in a number of ways, especially emphasizing enlightenment and being thoughtlessly aware as a means to attain immortality.

Shawn Ford, in his book The Core of Taoism and Confucianism states:"Lao Tsu said, "The more you know, the less you understand." He also said, "Not-knowing is true knowledge..." How can this be? It would seem that Lao Tsu was telling us not to think. On the other hand, Confucius once said, "If one learns but does not think, one is lost; if one thinks but does not learn, one is in danger." Again, these two traditions seem to contradict one another until we take a deeper look at how each philosophy regards education. In the Western world, when we think of education, we generally think of schools and universities. These are the institutions through which we achieve our learning. In the Taoist tradition, institutions are regarded with suspicion. They are looked at as going against nature by forcing people to be what they truly are not. However, education for the Taoist is a solo quest, without walls and boundaries. The Taoist seeks to understand the naturalness of everything as it exists in the present.

Instead of trying to know each separate piece, the Taoist tries to understand the whole, for the whole is the Tao. We can say that we know someone, but we do not understand them. But to say that we understand someone, is that not better than saying that we know them? In Taoism, the key is not to know something; the key is to understand it. One goes about this through self education and transformation. This kind of education is also natural; it just needs to be recognized. In addition, the Taoist is an educator in a sense. The Taoist teaches by example. Lao Tsu said, "The Master, by residing in the Tao, sets an example for all beings." Naturally, when others see one who is enlightened, they will realize it, and they will learn. In Confucianism, too, it is self , and not institutional education, that is important. This may seem to contradict the stereotype of the Confucian scholar who studies the classics for years, takes the exams, and works on society; and it does.

However, according to Confucius, people must first recognize themselves and their potential. This is at the heart of Confucian education. Confucius believed that in order to know about anything else in the world, we must first know ourselves. People must educate themselves as to how they fit into the world around them. This is Confucian knowledge; it is obtained by both the learning and thinking processes working together. The Confucian master, like the Taoist master, is also a role model for society. By knowing his place in the world around him, and by following the way of the chun-tzu, the Confucian teaches by example. Others recognize him as such and will learn from being around him. Therefore, when we look at the deeper meaning of education, we see that Taoism and Confucianism are very close in thought. We must know the importance of self realization and understand how we fit into the whole. We must teach others by example.

This is a very important form of education. In this way, we will be better prepared for the greater education that is life itself.Regarding the last main point, enlightenment, it may again seem that Taoist thought and Confucian thought differ greatly. For the Taoist, enlightenment is a process of realizing, following, and becoming one with the great Tao. On the other hand, Confucianism is generally thought to not deal with anything that is not concretely in this world; its concern is humanity. When we take a deeper look at what it means to be enlightened, we find that these two philosophies are seeing eye to eye. In taking this deeper look, let us look at transformation as a way to enlightenment.

To the Taoist, enlightenment is a continual, constant process. This enlightenment is first obtained by gradual transformation of the self until the Tao can be realized. Gradual transformation is obtained by following the way of the Taoist as passed down from generation to generation. The same is true in the Confucian context. Confucianism is not a static, unyielding philosophy concerned only with human interactions and the workings of good government.

These are merely aspects of that which lies at the center of Confucian philosophy. At the center you will find that transformation of the self gives rise to all other Confucian ideas and, ultimately, to enlightenment. In Book I of The Analects, Confucius says, "It is upon the trunk that the gentleman works. When that is firmly set up, the Way grows." This "Way" is the same Taoist "Way": the Tao. Confucius himself recognized that the attainment of the Tao is the ultimate enlightenment. Therefore, both Taoist thought and Confucian thought place the Tao at the center of their philosophy and as their goal. The difference between Taoism and Confucianism is seen in the words chosen to express enlightenment."

The Tao of Laozi (Lao Tzi) Journal of Humanistic Psychology, Vol. 43 No. 1, Winter 2003`Tao' is a Chinese word meaning `way', `way of Heaven', `Path' or `road' or `method'. It indicates a line or principle of conduct. There is no proper English term for `Tao'. It means the `Eternal Being'. The Founder of Taoism was Lao-Tze. Lao-Tze was born in 604 B.C. in the village of Chu-Jhren, in Li country, belonging to the Ku province of the State Chu. He was born under the plum tree (in Chinese `Li'). He adopted it as his surname. The hair of the head was white when he was born. Hence he was called Lao-Tze (old boy) or philosopher, one who is child-like even when old. He was popularly called Lao-Tze. His name was Er (ear). He was called Tan after his death. `Tan' means `long lobe'. He had peculiar long ears. His appellation was `Po Yang' or "count of positive principle". He was a keeper or recorder of the secret Archives in the Royal court of Chore.

He was a State Historian. Lao-Tze says: Tao is one. It was in the beginning. It will remain for ever. It is impersonal, eternal, immutable, omnipresent, bodiless, immaterial. It cannot be perceived by the senses. It is nameless. It is indescribable. It is the first cause from which all substances take their origin and all phenomena flow. The great Tao is all-pervading. All things depend on it for life. It is the mother of all phenomena, of heaven and earth. It existed before the Personal God. It is the father of God. It is the producer of God. It is the originator of heaven and earth. It is the mother of all things. You will find that there is an aroma of Indian Vedantic philosophy in the teachings of Lao-Tze. Tao is everywhere. It is in the ant. It is in the grass. It is in the earthen-ware vessel. It is in excrement. It is in the highest place but is not high. It is in the, lowest place, but is not low. It is in ancient times, but itself is not ancient. It is in old age but itself is not old. It is everywhere, but appears to be nowhere.

Tao is the sanctuary where all things find refuge. It is the good man's priceless treasure. It is the guardian and saviour of him who is not good. (Sri Swami Sivananda) Laozi believed that females are the mothers of all things and all human beings. In accordance with Dao, which generates everything, females are those that produce all things. Without females or mothers, there is nothing else in the world. The mystery of the valley is immortal; It is known as the Subtle Female. The gateway of the Subtle Female Is the source of the Heaven and Earth. (Chapter 6)

In another chapter, Laozi observed: The beginning of the world May be regarded as the Mother of the world. To apprehend the Mother, Know the offspring. To know the offspring Is to remain close to the mother, And free from harm throughout life. As per Daoist humanism, females, instead of males, are usually highly regarded in his writing: Know the male Hold to the female;

Become the world's stream. By being the world's stream The Permanent De (or humanism) will never leave. This is returning to Infancy. From this perspective, it is easy to see that femininity and mothering were highly valued by Laozi. Simply speaking, nothing in the world is as important as women and mothers. If many philosophical and religious ideas tend to maintain male superiority or dominance, directly or indirectly (e.g., Confucianism; Hinduism; Christianity, including Mormonism; Islam; Chauvinism; or Freudianism), Daoism differs because females play a more important role in humanism than males. This point may not have been well understood in modern feminist research (see Laughlin & Wong, 1999). Perhaps philosophically or religiously,

Laozi could be seen as one of the first proponents of feminism in human history.

The extraordinary parallels between ancient Indian and Chinese Taoism in its various forms and Hinduism (Vedanta and yoga) do not appear to have been documented by historians."Taoism was originally an esoteric philosophy, concerned with the unity underlying the opposites and diversity of the phenomenal world. Taoism taught union with the law of the universe through wisdom and detached action. The union of cosmic and individual energies is reminiscent of the Vedanta teachings of India. As central to the Taoist tradition as the concepts of yin and yang are the ideas of Tao and Te ("the power"). Like yin, Tao is often identified with the passive (or wu wei); because the way is often given preeminence over the power. It is said a real seeker of wisdom knows the power (Te) but seeks the way (Tao). One should not strive for wealth or prestige and that aggression is to be avoided. As part of the Taoists' practice, followers have incorporated lifestyle rituals, such as vegetarianism, herbal and tactile medicinal approaches, good moral conduct, and the use of appropriate incantations, amulets, and charms. T'ai Chi Ch'uan, with its fusion of energetic and relaxed exercise, has provided a means of increasing and enhancing ch'i (or Qi), the vital force of life.

The overall goal of Taoists' life is to attain harmony with the Tao. This means one must desire nothing, live simply, and act by not acting. It is a practice where solitude and individualism is cherished and where the "upper classes" of social standing are rejected. Taoism has also developed its own yoga techniques, which parallel the ancient Hindu system of kundalini yoga. These involved control of ch'i, the force believed to stand behind sexual activity, but which could also be diverted into different channels in the body for blissful expansion of consciousness. The circulation of this generative force in the body, aided by breathing techniques, corresponds with Indian yoga techniques involving pranayama breathing, and the ascent of kundalini energy through the chakras or vital centers of the body.

This individual alchemy was variously known as k'ai men (open door), ho ping (unity), or ho hsieh (harmony). The extraordinary parallels between ancient Indian and Chinese Taoism in its various forms and Hinduism (Vedanta and yoga) do not appear to have been documented by historians. The yoga teachings of China descended from teacher to pupil; it is only in recent times that basic texts have been translated into English. There are now teachers of Chinese yoga in Western countries and centers for instruction. There are also many translations with commentaries of the earlier Tao teachings in the Tao-te-Ching."

Tao is the heavenly way...

Introduction
In this chaotic and disordered society, disasters and calamities continuously occur around us. By the Benevolent Grace of LAO MU, the Benevolent Vow of Buddha Maitreya, and the Benevolent Virtues of our Supreme Father and Mother Teachers, we (all Dao brothers and sisters) are fortunate to encounter the Great Dao bestowed upon the Earth. When we received the Holy Touch from our Supreme Masters, our Sacred Conscience was enlightened and revived. We realized that all beings and all things on the Earth are one. We began to respect the lives of all beings and all things around us, and we refused to eat meats on the dining table, because we understand that this meat is the flesh of our fellow human beings reincarnated into animal form.
Numerous wandering human beings like us, addicted to the sea of wine and the forest of meat, must reincarnate lifetime after lifetime. However, because of this great opportunity of receiving Dao, cultivating and consecrating, we are able to see the light and reach the shore. Moreover, we turn over a new leaf by cutting off at the root the karmic debts that cause our lives to be tangled and complicated. Finally, we are able to regain our purity at the end.

The Great Dao is bestowed on Earth to save humankind from disasters and calamity. “Great calamity is approaching; time is critical.” This warning not only appears in many of Buddha’s revelations, but it is also mentioned in the Old Testament three thousand years ago. Many prominent scientists also predict that disaster is inevitable and that we will have to face this great calamity. Unfortunately, as we can see, only a small number of people in the world have received Dao. Even among them, those who adhere to a vegetarian diet are few. If humankind continues to be self-indulgent, killing and eating meat, when will the resentment and hatred among all sentient beings ever come to an end? How will the natural disasters and manmade crises be eliminated? How will all sentient beings on the Earth avoid annihilation when they encounter these calamities? When will this troubled world become a Pure Land?

In order to encourage people to become vegetarians, to receive, cultivate, and consecrate the Great Dao, and to regain their sacred conscience in time, it is necessary to fully elaborate the great values of the vegetarian diet and the harmful effects of meat consumption. Everyone needs to know the horror of eating meat and the values of the vegetarian diet. Once everybody refrains from eating meat and adheres to the pure vegetarian diet, the Pure Land will soon come to Earth!

From a health viewpoint: the dangers of eating meat
(A) Cancer-causing substances

The meat we eat contains at least five different kinds of toxic substances.
When animals are killed, they suffer abrupt and intense pain, causing them to be terrified, angry, and sad. Their bodies then produce toxic substances. Once we eat the meat, these toxic substances are absorbed into our circulatory systems and spread all over our bodies. Our internal organs are poisoned and cells are damaged. Eventually we will be sick and die. At Washington Psychological Laboratory in the United States, scientists studied the effects of psychological changes on physiological health. A glass container was placed in ice water, with its opening above the water. Research subjects would blow air into the flask. Once the air meets the ice-cold glass wall, it condenses into liquid. The study showed that when the research subjects were in a normal psychological state, the breath condensed into clear liquid. On the other hand, when the subjects were full of hate, anger, fear, and jealousy, the condensed liquids appeared in different colors. Chemical analysis found that the colored liquids contained lethal toxic substances. “Jealous” liquid could kill a mouse within minutes, while the “resentment” liquid contained such a high degree of toxicity, for up to one hour, that it could possibly kill 80 people. Moreover, studies have shown that nursing mothers with emotional disturbances can cause their babies to be sick or even die.

These scientific findings point out two significant implications:
(a). During the moment when animal lives are taken away and the animals suffer from extreme pain, they are in an intensely negative mood, which stimulates chemical reactions in their body, producing strong harmful substances. These harmful substances, once consumed and digested, are prone to cause acute or chronic illnesses. In essence, these harmful substances can cause tumors or cancer to grow in the bodies of meat-eaters. Therefore, eating a vegetarian diet is the best means of maintaining health.

(b). Negative mentality can cause the production of harmful substances in the body; in fact, the majority of illnesses are caused by psychological problems. On the other hand, positive mental states, such as peace, tranquility, satisfaction, happiness, loving, caring, benevolence, and compassion, can enhance the cellular metabolism. Positive mentality can also facilitate the removal of body waste, as well as enhance absorption of nutrients. The body will naturally be full of energy and vitality, and will stay youthful and healthy. Therefore, cultivation of the mind is the best means to build up the health of our body. The good and evil of our thoughts will make a tremendous difference between health and sickness.

After the animals have been killed, the cell function in their bodies instantly ceases. The protein in the cells congregates and certain enzymes are released, causing the production of harmful free radicals, which will be toxic to whoever eats the meat. The intestinal mechanism of humans is not born to digest meat. Meat can be ingested by the human body, but it can take as long as five days for it to be excreted out of the body. (Vegetables only require one day.) Therefore, the toxic meat will stay in our bowels and be harmful to the lining of the bowel. This is the cause of the formation of colon and rectal cancer.
These toxic substances cannot be eliminated by cooking. Eating meat is thus a major cause of cancer in our gastro-intestinal system. The rapid growth of the population and the increase of materialism have drastically increased the demand for meat. Meat and poultry must be produced at a faster pace. The slaughtering and transportation processes have become mass productions. These animals have been pushed, pressured, locked up, tied, and hung in cramped quarters with bright artificial light. They have been placed in filthy environments from birth until their deaths. Their bodies have been mutilated and tortured, and their minds are full of dreadful feelings. Therefore, their bodies have produced even more harmful substances and suffer from more diseases.
Once humans eat such sick and poisoned meat, it is not a surprise that we become sick. Scientists would like to name humans who are meat eaters as “the end of the food chain.” At the beginning of the food chain are plants absorbing the sunlight, fresh air, and water to grow; then some animals eat the plants, while large animals eat smaller animals; finally humans eat both plants and animals. Nowadays farms and orchards throughout the whole world use toxic chemicals, fertilizers and insecticides. As the animals eat the plants, these toxic substances will stay in their fatty tissues permanently. The meat-eating animals will absorb these chemicals in their fatty tissue. Eventually humans will be the last destination of all these harmful chemical residues.
According to scientific investigations, the toxic residue from insecticides contained in meat is thirteen times higher than the amount found in vegetables, fruits and grasses. Insecticides and toxic chemicals are primary causes of many cancers. People can avoid or reduce the harmful effects of insecticide on vegetables and fruits by washing or peeling the skins. In order to accelerate the growth process, animals are forced to eat antibiotics, steroids, tranquilizers, and chemically enhanced feed. Some may even have to receive growth-hormone injections. These drugs and chemicals are strong cancer-causing agents.

While the meat is on the market for sale, it may appear to be discolored if stored too long. In order to maintain its fresh color, nitrates and nitrites are usually added. These chemical preservatives are also cancer-causing substances. Besides all the cancer-causing factors, when too much meat is consumed, our livers may be overworked to detoxify these chemicals. Once our liver is overworked, we will suffer from liver cirrhosis, hepatitis, or liver cancer.
(B) Acidity of the blood
The quality of our blood determines the health of our bodies. Normal blood is mildly alkaline. A pH value of seven is neutral, from one to seven is acidic, and from seven to fourteen is alkaline. The pH value of healthy blood is 7.35, which is slightly alkaline.

When protein, fat and carbohydrates are metabolized in the body, a variety of acidic free radicals are produced. If the potent acidic radicals stay in the body, they will cause many diseases. In the meantime, they can age the excretory functions of our bodies. In order to maintain normal excretory function, we must keep adequate levels of calcium, potassium and other minerals in our blood. These minerals can maintain our blood at mild alkalinity. Hence, we must avoid eating acidic food; we must eat a mineral-enriched alkaline diet instead.

Most meat contains phosphates and sulfates, which will be turned into sulfuric and phosphoric acids in our bodies. Our blood then tends to become more acidic. On the other hand, most vegetables contain large quantities of the minerals that make our blood stay in an alkaline condition. There are rare exceptions, such as rice, that contain high quantities of phosphates. As mentioned above, phosphates tend to turn into phosphoric acid in the body. Because rice is the main food and energy source of Asians, they definitely need to eat mineral-rich vegetables and fruits to maintain the blood in a healthy alkalinity.

A meat diet will make the blood acidic, which is the fundamental cause of sickness of our bodies. On the other hand, a vegetarian diet can maintain our blood at proper alkalinity, keeping it in good shape. A vegetarian diet is the foundation of a healthy life.

Because acidic blood is like a nursery for cancerous cells, a meat diet is a main cause for cancer. On the contrary, a vegetarian diet is the suppressor of cancer.
(C) Blockage of the Blood Circulation
Animal fat contains a high level of cholesterol, which acts like candle wax. Once cholesterol gets into our blood, it sticks to the walls of the blood vessels. Months and years later, the piling up of cholesterol has gotten thicker, causing our blood vessels to be narrower. Our heart must then must pump harder to supply the blood to the organs. Increased constriction and pressure cause our body to develop myocardial infarction (heart attack) and stroke (brain hemorrhage). The end results may be hemiplegia, coma, and death. Circulatory diseases and cancer are the two most lethal diseases of humans. The AMA reports that “a vegetarian diet can prevent 90%-97% of the heart attacks.” Not only do vegetables not contain cholesterol, but they also have large amounts of fiber. The fiber in our bodies acts like a broom. It can sweep all the waste in our bodies to the excretory organs and discharge them faster. Therefore, a vegetarian diet can not only prevent heart attacks and strokes, but also guard our excretory organs from kidney stones, bladder stones, constipation, gout, hemorrhoids, appendicitis, etc.
(D) Overworking of the Kidneys
Meat contains large quantities of urea and uric acid. In order to get rid of all of these nitrogen compounds, the kidneys of meat-eaters must bear three times greater a burden. This overworking of the kidneys may cause the deterioration of renal function, kidney diseases, gout, etc. These are all chronic illnesses because they have the characteristics of low cure rate, high mortality, expensive medical bills, and physical and mental sufferings.
When our kidneys cannot dispose of the over-abundant nitrogen compounds, uric acid will be deposited in the body. Once these compounds are absorbed by our muscles, they will harden and form crystals. These crystals remain in our bones and joints, causing arthritis, gout, and rheumatoid arthritis. Again, these are all chronic illnesses, and will torture the victims until their death.]

If these crystals remain in the nervous system, they can cause the human body to suffer from neuritis and sciatica. In certain serious cases the patient may lose the motor and sensory functions of their central nervous system and become partially or totally paralyzed.
Loss of Control of Blood Sugar The pancreas secretes insulin, which helps the tissue to use the glucose that we ingest and absorb from our daily diet. Since meat is acidic, it requires a higher amount of insulin to digest. Therefore, over-indulgence in meat may cause a shortage of insulin and loss of control in the cellular absorption of glucose. Once the blood sugar in our body surpasses the normal range, it can cause diabetes. Diabetic patients have weaker immune functions and tend to suffer from many complications. To prevent a diabetic patient’s blood sugar from getting out of control requires a strict diet and careful monitoring of their blood sugar and medication. Diabetes is a very difficult disease to control; it is a chronic disease with a high mortality rate. It makes the victims suffer all their life until death.

An alkaline vegetable diet is the best way to reduce the occurrence of diabetes.
Infection by Germs Just like human beings, animals get sick too. Worse, animals do not have the health knowledge that humans do. Farm animals may eat garbage, feces, wastewater, leftover food, other dead animals, or even chemical waste, etc. Therefore, animals carry all kinds of viruses, bacteria, tumors and cancerous cells, as well as numerous parasites under their skin and hair. The meat-eating humans then become the graveyard of all these awful and dirty bugs. This is such a horrible fact! Humans take all kinds of bacteria and viruses into their stomach every day. No wonder, they get bogged down by all kinds of diseases, and end their life in such chronic, suicidal behavior.

II. From a health viewpoint: the benefits of the vegetarian diet

(A). The endurance of a hard-laboring worker who is a vegetarian is about three times longer than that of a meat-eater. The recovery time from fatigue is only one fifth that of a meat-eater. This is the conclusion of scientists who have done investigative work on athletes and laborers.
(B). Perusing the history of sports, such as swimming, basketball, soccer, weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, power walking, marathon racing, bicycling, etc., we find that many world records are held by vegetarians. Their powerfulness, endurance and energy are far superior to meat-eaters. This fact has greatly impressed many scientists.
(C). The longest-living, most powerful, and fastest-running animals are all vegetable-eaters. Fast-galloping and high-jumping horses, deer, mountain goats, and giraffes are all vegetarians. Others animals with great lifting power and endurance, such as oxen, horses, and elephants, are all vegetable-eaters too.
(D). Many vegetarian diets contain more essential proteins than meat. For example, meat contains 20% protein, in contrast to 40% protein in soybeans, double the protein content of meat. Some nuts, seeds and beans have 30% protein content. The proteins that the human body needs are composed of eight kinds of essential amino acids. They can be obtained from the combinations of two kinds of vegetarian food sources, such as grains and legumes. Other essential vitamins and nutrients are to be found in fruits and vegetables; they are rich in fiber, which helps with our excretory systems. Therefore, a vegetarian diet is far superior to meat, and it does not harbor all the harmful substances found in meat. A vegetarian diet is the best medicine bestowed by nature to help us stay healthy, beautiful and youthful.
(E). The six years of World War II ended by the Americans dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the two most prosperous cities in Japan. These two southern cities in Japan were totally destroyed in a flash. Yet it was discovered afterwards that there were very few cattle casualties. Later, the scientists found that a herd of sheep aboard a U.S. Navy ship had gone through the nuclear blast, but did not suffer any casualties from the nuclear radiation. Cows and sheep are grass-eating animals. The grass contained potassium, the chemical that made possible these animals' resistance to the radiation. This was a revolutionary discovery, and it has religious implications as well. The philosophy behind the vegetarian diet is benevolence and compassion, which turns out to be the best shield against catastrophe.

III. From a physiological viewpoint: comparison between a meat diet and a vegetable diet
From a long period of research and observation, scientists have discovered that the physiological structures of animals are closely related to their eating habits. Based on their dietary habits, animals can be categorized into three groups: meat-eaters, grass-eaters, and fruit-eaters.

The flesh-eating animals, including lions, tigers, leopards, wolves, dogs, cats, etc., have sharp claws and bulging incisors for tearing and biting the flesh off of weaker animals. Their bowels are short and straight, only three times the length of their body; their shorter bowels can quickly expel the digested and spoiled meat. This prevents the meat from staying inside their bodies too long and poisoning their blood. The acidity of their gastric juice is about ten times higher than in vegetable- eaters, facilitating the digestion of meat.

Vegetable-eaters, such as elephants, deer, horses, cows, camels, sheep, rabbits, etc., use plant leaves, grasses or fruits as their diet source. They all have flat molars that they use to slowly munch on tough grass and leaves. Their saliva is rich in alkaline enzymes to help in digestion. Their bowels are about ten times longer than their body length. Therefore, they are not suitable for eating flesh, which gets spoiled much faster than grass.

Fruit-eaters, such as gorillas, use berries or vegetables as their main diet. Like grass-eaters, they also have flat molars to chew, and their saliva is full of alkaline enzymes too. The digestive tract of gorillas is even longer, about twelve times longer than their body length.
Human bodies are actually built like grass-eaters. We have flat molars, and our intestines are about twelve times longer than our body lengths. Therefore, we human beings are natural vegetarians. We are not suitable for eating meat. Meat-eating is a bad habit formed by our ancestors, and it is against the natural law too.

IV. From an ecological viewpoint: comparison between a meat diet and a vegetarian diet
In order to satisfy the great demand of meat-eaters in this modern time, we use mass production methods to raise animals. The result is that large areas of land, water, electricity, manpower, grain, and other resources have been consumed, destroying and ruining many areas of natural forests.

(A). Meat diets cause the disappearance of forests
Raising large herds of animals requires large farms and great quantities of feed. Thus it is a necessity to chop down forests for this purpose; one after another, forests have been destroyed.
The nutrients in the soil are gradually washed off by rain. The quality of the soil becomes poor, and it cannot be used to cultivate crops. The underground water is pumped dry. After losing the shade from the trees and drying the moisture from the land, the compounded accumulation of carbon dioxide starts “the greenhouse effect.” The temperature of the Earth gets higher and the climate becomes intolerable; agricultural produce cannot be grown under such conditions.

Much natural beauty has disappeared. Pure and clean air has become a rarity. Instead, the air that we are inhaling has become polluted and filthy. Sometimes it even contains poison. The migration of bird flocks, which used to help farmers get rid of insects, has decreased. Farmers must spray insecticides to ensure their harvests. The food in our diet has been contaminated with toxic substances. Without the protection of the forests, many species of animals have disappeared too.

(B). Meat-eating cultures have caused soil erosion
After the forests are destroyed, the underground water cannot be renewed. The water has evaporated or flowed away into the river or sea. The land has become barren. During years of exposure from strong wind and heavy rain, the soil is washed off and the land has become sunken, collapsed or engulfed by the river, lake, sea, or desert. Living space has become more crowded. Agricultural land has become scarce. Numerous wars in history were fought because of similar circumstances, that is, resources being in short supply.
(C). Meat-eating cultures have caused water pollution
Huge animal farms have produced large amounts of fecal waste, which is being dumped underground. The waste gradually sifts into the water source. Consequently, harmful substances such as urea, uric acid, bacteria, and poisons will be in the drinking water consumed by many people. The fecal contamination of water from animal waste is about ten times higher than contamination caused by human waste. In order to purify the contaminated water, we must pay a high price to build and maintain water treatment facilities and pipelines, greatly increasing our cost of living.
(D). Meat-eating cultures are destroying the ozone layer
The ozone layer, at a high atmosphere, is the protection zone above Earth that stops the penetration of ultraviolet rays from the sun. If there is no ozone layer, the UV light will directly hit the Earth. This can cause drought and skin cancer. All living beings on Earth could be annihilated from this cause alone.
During the process of raising animals, humans must use fertilizers to stimulate the growth of agricultural produce. Once the fertilizers have evaporated, the nitrogen is released and it rises to the ozone layer, causing damaging chemical reactions. Thus, the ozone layer becomes thinner and lighter. A hole has formed in the ozone layer, and it is gradually enlarging. Eventually this lack of ozone protection will become one of the most threatening factors that can end this world.
From an economic viewpoint: comparison of a meat diet and a vegetarian diet Originally, grains and vegetables were humankind's main food. For some reason, we humans abandoned this good dietary habit. Instead, we fed animals with grains and vegetables, and then we ate the animal flesh. This transformation has cost us a great deal. We use 16 parts of grains and soybeans in exchange for 1 part of animal flesh; the rest of the 15 parts of food have been turned into animal waste. Therefore, because of eating meat, we humans have wasted 90% of proteins, 96% of calories, and all the fibers and carbohydrates.

To support meat-eaters, it requires 6.5 times more land than that required by a lacto-ovo-vegetarian (a vegetarian who also eats dairy products and eggs). It is about 25 times more than that required by a pure vegetarian (vegan).

The water consumption to sustain a meat-eater is about 3.3 times higher than that of a lacto-ovo-vegetarian, and 13 times higher than that of a pure vegetarian. Water is wasted not only to feed animals, but also to irrigate the agricultural growth used to feed the animals. More water is required for washing the animals and barns, and cleaning up animal wastes.

Because humans are eating meat, it requires 12 times more water usage. This takes away the water for hydroelectric power plants; we humans are forced to look for other more expensive, more complicated, and more environmentally polluting ways to generate electricity. The end result is that the cost of electricity and the costs of living have been greatly increased in all societies.

The most serious problem caused by the humans who insist upon eating meat is that we waste most of the farmers’ hard labor in planting and harvesting crops to feed animals. In the meantime, we leave numerous people in different parts of the world in starvation. The calamity we are going to face is actually caused by the wrong choice of dietary habits made by humans ourselves!

From the Ultimate Truth viewpoint: comparison of a meat diet and a vegetarian diet Going through the entire history of mankind is almost like viewing a history of warfare. The progression of civilization is nothing but a record of the development of killing weaponry. Since the twentieth century arrived, scientific development has been leaping forward. Meanwhile, human material indulgence has reached its maximum; a common civilian can live more luxuriously than the past emperors. The consequence of this material indulgence is water pollution, air pollution, food contamination, environmental pollution, ecological disasters, and the pollution of people's minds. In addition, it is also going to bring epic catastrophes to mankind. Atomic bombs, hydrogen bombs, nuclear bombs, as well as ballistic missiles, can rain down from the sky, any place at any moment. The human mind is covered by an immense, horrible shadow: the fear that the end of the world is in sight.

Why do we allow the situation to develop in such a horrible way? All the major world religions, gradually established over the past 3000 years, seek to solve the problem and to save mankind. Unfortunately, conflicts built up among the religions, and they are even a main cause of the warfare. The Old Testament, written 3000 years ago, has already predicted that the conflicts and warfare among the religions will be the direct causes of the very last world war, which could lead the world to its end.

Since we humans have acknowledged the oncoming danger and the blessing by the Grace of LAO MU, the Great Dao has been bestowed upon the Earth. Fortunately, humans have been revealing a few signs of awakened revelation. We now understand that all things and all beings are closely related like a single entity. There are no differences between nations, races, and religions. Every one of us is longing for the creation of a Pure Land on Earth.

Since we have recognized and realized that all beings and all things are one, we know we all possess the same emanated spirits of LAO MU, and we should all have the same love and care toward each other. This feeling is more loving, more intense, and more harmonious than flesh and blood. We should respect, sympathize, love and care for each other. We should not kill each other and act like a dominant species eating up the flesh of weaker species.

It has been quite popular recently for psychologists to use hypnosis to bring back the deeply embedded memories of our past lives. This trend has proved to us the truth of reincarnation. It also shows the marvelous and limitless nature of our subconscious. The sub-conscious is embedded in the mind of every sentient being and it is one of the functions of our emanated spirits of LAO MU (our inner spirit). The marvelous and limitless nature of our subconscious does not have to be taught or to learn; by nature, it is the “Heavenly Ability” of our inner spirit and we inherit it from birth.

While we humans are taking away the lives of other animals, selling their shells and skeletons, biting and chewing their flesh, all these cruelties will be vividly and clearly remembered in their emanated spirit of LAO MU (their inner spirits). In addition, their feeling of suffering in being killed, the distress of being sold, and the hate of being eaten, have all been mixed and become like seeds of revenge. These karmic seeds were deeply implanted in the minds of those sorrowful animals. When these karmic seeds sprouted, grew stronger and ripened, then the abused souls were obsessively finding murderers lifetime after lifetime, and the finding process will not stop until they have found the killers.

The abused souls' relentless urges of revenge seek repayment of the karmic debts by various means. Some haunt their debtors, like wandering souls and sorrowful ghosts; some go through a reversal in their reincarnations, eating the flesh of their debtors. Some achieve revenge by murdering their debtors, causing warfare or disasters, or even incurable diseases on their debtors. All of these brutal actions are to get even with their debtors so that their angers can be relieved. The meat-eating trend has become so prosperous in this modern time, that humans have killed incredible numbers of animals to satisfy their habits. The atmosphere has become full of unfairness, hate, anger, and the sense of being wronged, and it has stretched to the corners of the universe. The accumulated angry energy has almost reached an explosive point.
Therefore, the incidents and disasters occurring in the society and everywhere in the world have become more and more horrible and serious in scale. The End of the World phenomenon described by the scientists is more horrifying and fast approaching than what the Bible has predicted.

We are now facing the great calamity. The Heavenly Dao has been widely propagated in many countries of the world. In Taiwan and elsewhere in the world, vegetarian restaurants are increasing in number and in popularity. If it were not for the Great Dao disciples who devoted themselves to Dao cultivation, how could so many vegetarians be appearing on the horizon?
Our Benevolent LAO MU sent Buddha Maitreya, who compassionately vowed not to eat the flesh of others, to take charge of this great mission to bring the “Pure Land on Earth.” His benevolent teaching is to take the vegetarian diet as the first priority of Dao cultivation. HIS teaching is to save mankind from killing each other, and to end the causes of karmic debts among mankind. Once we are on the path of cultivation, the great calamity will no longer be a threat. Wars among the nations will cease, diseases will not torture mankind, and karmic debts among humans will be ended as well. Then, Heaven on Earth will appear before us. Everyone will be happy and benevolent, every family will be harmonious, and every country will be peaceful and friendly to each other. Mankind in the universe will be united as one and live harmoniously and peacefully. Finally, there will be no boundary between Heaven and Earth.
